Students arrive at school. They should be dropped off by a parent.

Line up nicely and wash hands for porridge. Eat porridge and have a multi vitamin.

Toilet Break – Afterwards, students should line up for class time.

8:30 – 9:15

Kiswahili - Students should be learning the basics of Swahili. As students advance through the different classes their Swahili should become more advanced.

9:15 – 10:00

Phonics – Students should be using sounds to read the English letters A to Z.

As students progress throughout Tengeru they should be using combination letters to sound out full words and begin to read.

10:00 – 10:10

Toilet Break - Students should line up nicely and go to the toilet a few at a time.

10:10 – 10:50

English – Students should be able to do basic greetings, introduce themselves, letters, numbers, colours, days of the week, days of the month, etc.

10:50 – 11:20

Play Time – Students are allowed to play with balls and skipping ropes located in the blue bin in the office. Teachers should be monitoring students on the slides, swings, etc. Organized song and dance could also occur at this time! .

11:20 – 11:45

Mathematics – Children will learn how to count quite quickly. Once they have mastered this, they should break numbers down. Make sure students can recognize numbers, write numbers, count, and eventually add, subtract, multiply and divide.

Fridays: Sports and games outside.

11:45 – 12:05

Science and Health – Students can learn the parts of the body, different animals, hygiene practices, etc.

Fridays: Sports and games outside.

12:05 – 12:30

Art – This is a very important part of chidlren’s development as it allows them to be creative and use their imagination. There are many tools in the office to make things interesting. Use craft supplies, colouring books, paints, etc.

12:30 – 1:15

Lunch Time – Students are to line up and wash their hands before lunch. They should also put away their dishes and wash their faces before beginning to play.

Note: Teeth brushing can occur after lunch time if the program is running well.

1:15 – 1:30

Homework and Home time – Older classes might have homework that they need to copy home. Students should only leave the school premises if they are accompanied by an adult.
